Description of Event:
This lecture will use the concept of “good sexual citizenship” to help participants identify and challenge factors like gendered messages, trans- and homophobia, racism and trauma, which contribute to sexually hostile and dangerous environments. Strategies for creating positive community standards and tools for community assessment will also be covered.

Sex and Sexuality are often taboo topics for Muslims, leading to lack of sex education and increased sexual shame. This course is designed to help participants gain an understanding of Islamic views and language regarding sexuality and a sex-positive framework to address the challenges this population faces regarding sex.
