Description of Event:
Join Linda, co-author of "Sensate Focus in Sex Therapy: The Illustrated Manual" for a comprehensive Certification program designed to enhance your confidence and professional expertise in using this foundational technique in sex therapy with diverse clients and sexual concerns.
The program consists of 9 monthly online sessions, each lasting 1-2 hours, combining clinical and experiential learning through reading, didactic presentations, discussion, video demonstration and practice.
Program Objectives:
- *Understand the theoretical underpinnings and biological foundations of Sensate Focus and how it addresses sexual blocks and challenges
- *Effectively explain Sensate Focus to clients to promote client engagement and motivation
- *Master the updated Sensate Focus Protocol: develop proficiency in the general sequence of touch suggestions and learn how to creatively adapt them based on client goals, sexual difficulty and interpersonal dynamics
- *Address common challenges: gain strategies for managing issues such as avoidance, non compliance, personal and partner pressure
- *Integrate Sensate Focus with other modalities (IFS,EFT, Gottman) and adjunctive sexual health care providers.
- *Guide clients in erotic exploration: Learn how to create a Sensate Focus 2 program to help clients deepen their erotic connection with self and partners

Time of Event: 9-10am Central and 9-11am Central
Location: This is an online synchronous program which is recorded for those unable to attend a particular session
Sexuality Counseling (SC) Training:
SC2. Theory and methods of sexuality counseling approaches to specific populations (e.g., youth, older adult, couples, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations).
SC3. Theory and methods of different approaches to intervention in relationship systems.
SC4. Theory and methods of decision-making concerning sexually related medical interventions.
SC5. Ethical issues in sexuality counseling.
SC6. Theory and practice of consultation, collaboration and referral.
Sex Therapy (ST) Training:
ST1. Theory and methods of sex-related psychotherapy, including several different models.
ST3. Theory and methods of approach to intervention in relationship systems experiencing sex and intimacy problems.
ST4. Theory and method of approach to medical intervention in the evaluation and treatment of psychosexual disorders.
ST5. Principles of consultation, collaboration and referral.
ST6. Ethical decision-making and best practice.
