Workshop Description:
This workshop equips mental health professionals with the knowledge, language, and practical tools to address sexuality and intimacy with clients in a clinically sound and affirming manner. Many therapists report discomfort or uncertainty in initiating conversations about sexual concerns, intimacy, or gender identity—often due to gaps in training. This session provides a structured, skills-based approach to help clinicians confidently and ethically explore these topics with clients.

Participants will learn strategies for:
Initiating and sustaining conversations about sexuality and intimacy
Identifying and addressing personal biases and discomfort
Integrating sexuality and intimacy discussions into a variety of therapeutic modalities
Supporting clients in sexuality empowerment and gender identity exploration
Offering safe, creative avenues for self-expression (including photo opportunities, makeup application guidance, and presentation coaching)
By combining clinical expertise with creative, affirming interventions, this training offers attendees actionable skills that can be implemented immediately. The session will include lecture, discussion, and case-based examples, and is suitable for therapists, counselors, and other professionals seeking to expand their competence and confidence in this essential area of client care.

Describe at least three strategies for initiating conversations about sexuality and intimacy in counseling.
