EMDR Application in Sex Therapy: Treating Sexual Trauma, Shame, and Dysfunction through the AIP Model
Title of Event: EMDR Application in Sex Therapy: Treating Sexual Trauma, Shame, and Dysfunction through the AIP Model
Description of Event:
Sexual concerns are common in therapy, but many clinicians feel underprepared to address them, especially when trauma, shame, and body-based responses are involved.
This live training bridges the gap between EMDR therapy and sex therapy, helping clinicians move beyond symptom management to address the underlying memory networks driving sexual concerns.
Grounded in the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, participants will learn how to conceptualize and treat concerns such as sexual trauma, performance anxiety, desire and arousal difficulties, and shame-based patterns.
The training provides a structured approach to:
-Identifying and sequencing EMDR targets
-Applying all 8 phases of EMDR therapy to sexual material
-Working with somatic activation, arousal, and dissociation
-Integrating EMDR with sex therapy interventions for real-world change
Designed for practical application, this training supports clinicians in developing greater confidence, clarity, and effectiveness when working with complex and often avoided presentations.
