June 2014: AASECT Congratulates Those Who Have Been Recently Certified

AASECT congratulates the following members on their new certifications:

Lori Michels, LMFT, Irene Olson Walton, MA, MSW, LCSW-C, and Melissa A. Novak, LCSW were certified as sex therapists. Angela Culbreth, MS, LPC, Peregrine M. Kavros, PhD, MBA, and Rosemary A. Munns, PsyD, LP were also certified as sex therapists, under special circumstances.

Debra L. Ketterhagen, MSN, CNM was certified as a sexuality counselors under special circumstances.

Wendy Maltz's The Porn Trap Is Now Available in Chinese

Diplomate Certified Sex Therapist and longtime AASECT member Wendy Maltz's book The Porn Trap: The Essential Guide to Overcoming Problems Caused by Pornography (coauthored with her husband Larry Maltz) is now available in an (uncensored) Chinese translation. Several years ago, a young female translator from China, Ms. Carmen Song, approached the Maltzes requesting permission to translate the book. She insisted that there was a great need for the book in China.

Sandy L. Caron, PhD and Betsy Crane, Phd, Take Sexuality Education Abroad

Sandy L. Caron, PhD, has recently returned from abroad, where she offered a course through the University of Maine entitled Human Sexuality in Europe. Caron traveled with a dozen undergraduate students from London to Amsterdam to Stockholm. She previously offered a similar study course through Syracuse University from 1996-2005.  

Article on Sensate Focus Published in Sexual and Relationship Therapy

Diplomate of Sex Therapy Linda Weiner and Certified Sex Therapist Constance Avery-Clark co-authored the article "Sensate Focus: Clarifying the Masters and Johnson's Model." The article, which emphasizes "the crucial difference between the intended aim of non-demand touching for one's own interest and the misleading interpretation of non-demand pleasuring of the partner," is available online through the Sexual and Relationship Therapy journal.
