Sexuality Reimagined: A SAR Exploring Systems, Stories, and Self

Description of Event:

Join Kristen Lilla LCSW, CST-S, CSE-S and Julie Labanz LPCC-S, CST, CST-S for this in-person SAR in Cincinnati, Ohio. This event is a general SAR that will count for folx earning CE's to become a sex therapist, educator, or counselor. It will also count as hours towards recertification. The SAR will cover a variety of content, as required by AASECT, including:

Core Knowledge Areas
1. Describe at least two historical sexual traumas that have impacted American sexuality. (history) CKA: C, F, H, N, P, Q
2. Gain a general understanding of the impact of colonization on modern day sexuality. CKA: C, F, H, N, P, Q
3. Integrate trauma informed work into clinical practice and/or teaching philosophy. CKA: A, B, N, P
4. Define and discuss self-of-the-therapist/educator issues that arise from the course activities and experiences CKA: A, O
5. Define and discuss challenges for Intersex and trans folx CKA: C, D
6. Define Asexuality CKA: D, E
7. Identify at least one challenge for LGBT and Aging CKA: B, D, E
8. Identify one intervention for working with Minor attracted persons J
9. Identify at least two ways someone might engage in Sex work F, I
10. Define the differences between kink/fetish/bdsm F, I, M
11. Identify one intervention for supporting Polyamorous couples F
12. Understand basic functioning for Anatomy of vulva and penis G
13. Define Cyber sexuality I, K
14. Identify one way people with Disabilities are de-sexualized H
15. SAR

Training event hours:
April 24 from 4 PM-7:10 PM
April 25 from 9 AM-5:30 PM
April 26 from 9 AM - 2 PM

Sexuality Education (SE) Training:

SE3. Ethical issues in sexuality education.
SE4. Theory and methods of approaches to sexuality education with specific populations (e.g., youth, older adults, couples, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities).
SE5. Theory and methods of different approaches to sexuality education delivery (e.g., small group work, one-on-one education, large group lectures or interaction, online delivery or use of other electronic means).

Sexuality Counseling (SC) Training:

SC2. Theory and methods of sexuality counseling approaches to specific populations (e.g., youth, older adult, couples, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations).
SC3. Theory and methods of different approaches to intervention in relationship systems.
SC5. Ethical issues in sexuality counseling.

Sex Therapy (ST) Training: (check all that apply)

ST1. Theory and methods of sex-related psychotherapy, including several different models.
ST3. Theory and methods of approach to intervention in relationship systems experiencing sex and intimacy problems.
ST6. Ethical decision-making and best practice.
