Practical Polyamory #3: Healthy Meta Relationships

Title of Event: Practical Polyamory #3: Healthy Meta Relationships

Description of Event:
There’s a ton of information out there about how to have great relationships with your partners in ENM– but a lot less on how to cultivate good relations with your metamours (your partners’ partners) and your extended polycule. In a lot of ways, being polyamorously partnered is like having a big family you can’t always escape– you’re spending time with people you didn’t choose, and it’s a roll of the dice whether you love them or loathe them, but you have to figure out how to exist with them in your life. How much or little contact you have with metas is a choice you need to make and negotiate, so let’s talk about how to manage it.

During this session, we’ll talk about:
-Kitchen table polyamory, parallel polyamory, and other common structures for polycule interactions
-Negotiating when you’ll meet metas, and what boundaries you want to establish with them
-Gracefully managing the dynamics of being besties with your meta
-The advantages and disadvantages of deeply-connected polycules
-Managing conflict with the people who aren’t your partners
-What to do about your metas after a breakup

There will be time at the end of the session for Q&A and discussion, with an anonymous form for submitting anything you’re too shy to say out loud. Join us to learn how to have smooth sailing throughout your polycule relationships.
