This introductory workshop offers a foundational overview of polyamory and non-monogamous relationships, including key umbrella terms, relational structures (hierarchical, non-hierarchical, relationship anarchy, and more), and common critiques that emerge within polyamory communities. These frameworks will be explored through the lenses of the Ace, Aro, Bi, and Pan spectrums, highlighting how cultural assumptions about attraction and relationships shape people’s experiences.

Participants will examine the impacts of mononormativity and amatonormativity and consider ways to rethink common social expectations about intimacy, attraction, and relational fulfillment. The session will also introduce practical communication tools that can support polyamorous individuals and partners in building mutual agreements, navigating jealousy, and connecting with resources for continued learning.

Learning objectives:

1. Participants will be able to define at least four key terms related to polyamory and consensual non-monogamy.
2. Participants will be able to identify at least two relational challenges or critiques commonly discussed in polyamory communities.
