Led by Dr. Verena Brown, a board-certified child abuse pediatrician and AASECT-certified sexuality educator, this two-day intensive gives AASECT-certified educators, counselors, and therapists the full clinical picture, from healthy child sexual developement to the forensic medicine involved in a child sexual abuse work-up.

Day One builds the foundation: what healthy sexual development actually looks like from infancy through adolescence, how to recognize problematic sexual behavior without over-pathologizing normal curiosity, and how trauma physiology explains the disclosures, delays, and inconsistencies that too often get misread as doubt.

Day Two goes where most CE trainings won't: inside the medical exam room. You'll learn why most exams are normal even after confirmed abuse, what the forensic evidence process actually involves, how STIs factor into an evaluation, and critically, how to help survivors and families understand all of it without shame or confusion.

You'll leave with the clinical fluency to recognize, respond to, and support cases of child sexual abuse with confidence, grounded in current, peer-reviewed research, not outdated assumptions.
