Sexuality and Reproduction: Integrating Care and Counseling
Title of Event: Sexuality and Reproduction: Integrating Care and Counseling
Description of Event:
Understand the intersection of biological, psychological, and sexual factors in individuals and couples facing infertility. Describe the biological causes and medical treatments of infertility and their impacts on physical, psychological, relational, and sexual well-being. Explain the circular relationship between infertility and sexual issues, where infertility can contribute to sexual problems and vice versa. Construct a treatment plan to address the emotional, sexual, and relational effects of infertility and its treatment.
Recognize the changes in sexual health that may occur at each stage of pregnancy and how these changes may affect the pregnant person and their partner. Develop a treatment plan to address these changes and improve sexual and relationship health. Identify the factors that contribute to postpartum depression and anxiety in either partner. Describe how postpartum depression, anxiety, and hormonal changes may cause sexual late effects in either partner. Understand the changes in identity and relationship roles that may occur in postpartum individuals and couples. Generate a treatment plan to address the mental health issues, as well as the relationship and sexual late effects, experienced by postpartum individuals and couples.
