Title of Event: Unmasked: From Moral Injury to Self Alignment in High Masking ADHD'ers and Autistics
Description of Event: For many neurodivergent people, masking is a lifelong survival response shaped by environments that couldn’t hold difference.
This 60-minute presentation is a deeply affirming, trauma-informed training designed to help clinicians recognize the emotional cost of masking in ADHD and autism—and learn how to support clients in healing through relational safety, identity reclamation, and flow-based interventions.
You’ll walk away with the tools, visuals, and language to support clients with more compassion, clarity, and confidence.
What will I learn with this course?
Participants will be able to:
* Explain masking as a survival strategy in ADHD and autism.
* Identify how ambiguous loss and moral injury emerge through masking.
* Guide clients from grief to identity recognition, reclamation, and integration.
* Differentiate performative sex from flow state sex.
* Build skills to navigate relational misattunements, including co-regulated consent, and practical application of the double empathy problem through the Polarization to Parallel Model.
The learning objectives are the following:
1) Participants will apply Polyvagal Theory to identify how masking leads to moral injury in high masking ADHD'ers and Autistics.
2) Participants will analyze how flow state psychology facilitates interventions for honoring diversity and transforming grief, as well as accessing affirming self expression and relationship negotiation.
