Some involve what we’ve learned about human emotion and decision-making, and how to use that knowledge to advance (or protect) the therapy. Others involve the therapeutic relationship itself—one of our most powerful clinical tools, which we want to make and keep as effective as possible. When we don’t work harder than our patients—and get better results, too—we generally enjoy our work more.
