The Sexual Health Certificate Program (SHCP) offers applicable interdisciplinary training for professionals committed to expanding their knowledge and skills in sexual health. Designed for those pursuing work as sex therapists, sexuality educators, and sexuality counselors, this program centers a holistic understanding of sexual health as a vital component of overall well-being — one that is shaped by psychological, relational, environmental, medical, and sociocultural factors.

This is a workshop about failure and the ways we’ve failed, lessons we’ve learned, and ways we’ve evolved to ensure we don’t have to learn the same lesson twice, or thrice! So often the conversations about professional development or community collaborations are devoid of how we fail and apologize, yet all of us have this experience. Goals include discussing these realities and get some healing started! Participants will leave having worked on an apology they need to give.

Over the past several years the rates of suicide for Hispanic, Black, Asian and Pacific Islander youth have seen significant increases, while the rate of suicide amongst White youth has decreased. Additionally, the risk of suicide among 2SLGBTQIA+ youth is three times that of their heterosexual and cisgender peers. (Chu, J., O’Neill, S.E., Ng, J.F., Khoury, O. (2022). This webinar will explore the impact of sexual trauma on intimacy and sexuality, including how it affects overall development and sexual development. Participants will learn to understand common traumatic responses and apply trauma-sensitive practices, as well as examine the effects of sexual trauma on couples and relationships.
