When Treatment Causes Harm: Understanding PSSD and Iatrogenic Sexual Dysfunctions

Title of Event: When Treatment Causes Harm: Understanding PSSD and Iatrogenic Sexual Dysfunctions (synchronous webinar)

Description of Event:

This one-and-a-half-hour webinar is designed to raise awareness about Post-SSRI/SNRI Sexual Dysfunction (PSSD) and other iatrogenic sexual dysfunctions. It can help sexuality professionals recognize potential signs and understand how to provide support to clients, patients, and students affected by these conditions.

The live webinar will feature a prerecorded, asynchronous presentation with scheduled breaks for Q&A, during which Yassi Pirani, MSW, RSW, RCC, and Margo M. Maes, AASECT CSE, will answer participant questions.

The content does not discourage the use of medication, nor does it provide medical diagnostic tools. Instead, it focuses on education and awareness within a professional framework.

PSSD and related iatrogenic sexual syndromes are often overlooked in mental health care. These conditions can be deeply distressing, leading to loss of sexual function along with physical and cognitive challenges. Symptoms may emerge during medication use or after discontinuation, and in some cases, they persist indefinitely.
