In this second part of Disability Justice we will dive deeper into examining each of the 10 principles and discussing ways to implement them into our work and everyday lives as sexuality professionals.

Intersectionality has become a buzzword used often and often misused. This course examines and engages with primary resources of Intersectionality as a theory, framework, and practice. We will discuss how this practice and theory has expanded, critiques, and ways we have used Intersectionality incorrectly along with strategies for expanding our use of each part of this critical practice.

The first part of this course offers an overview of the various models and approaches to disability, defines common terms, and introduces the need and principles that create DJ. The focus will be on how the various models impact sex and sexual expression of disabled people. Now is the time to be guided by a fuller understanding of bodymind by those who are most impacted.

Title of Event: Couples in Conflict: Treatment Strategies That Work

Description of Event:

While every couple has conflict, only some know how to manage it. What do these successful couples do that we can teach other couples? Why do some couples periodically damage their relationship unnecessarily? How can we help all couples quarrel less often, less intensely, and less destructively?

We’ll look at how to transform couples’ conflict into a cooperative activity, complete with practical guidelines—including the role of curiosity in making conflict more productive.

This training provides a practical introduction to sex therapy with teens, focusing on how to navigate the often-complex triangle between therapist, parent, and adolescent. Participants will explore how to balance confidentiality and consent, establish trust with teens, and communicate effectively with caregivers who may have strong fears or expectations. Attendees will leave with concrete frameworks, phrases, and strategies they can immediately apply in clinical work.
