Solo Sex: Unpartnering Desire
Title of Event: Solo Sex: Unpartnering Desire
Description of Event:
Join us to discuss the mechanics of sexual desire in a solo context, approached through an Asexual lens.
About the Event
Sexual desire and arousal are commonly discussed and measured within an interpersonal context. This misses the many ways that desire and arousal can be accessed and engaged with in a solo context. For many Single Folks, Asexual Folks, and those in partnered relationships who wish for more sexual autonomy, it can be difficult to find spaces where these conversations don't focus on partnered sex.
This workshop discusses:
1. The language and attitudes we have around solo sex
2. Different patterns of Desire (spontaneous, responsive, contextual, turn ons/offs)
3. Physiological systems of arousal
4. Access Aids (fantasy, sensory, mindful, aftercare)
5. Selection of adult toys and products (not for sale)
This is an educational event focused on healthy exploration, inclusion, and personal well-being, conducted in a professional, shame-free environment. Absolutely no nudity or sexual activity will be shown or engaged with during this workshop.
This workshop is especially relevant for Asexual people, clinicians, educators, counselors, and anyone interested in more expansive ways of understanding the mechanics of arousal.
This event is approved for 1.5 Live Synchronous AASECT CEs! (No CEs with the recording.)
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe 2 or more patterns or contexts of sexual desire.
2. Integrate 3 or more tools into solo sex practices to support access to psychological and physiological arousal.
