Sexuality, Ritual and Healing
Description:
Ritual has been used for millennia to help humans to heal traumas or hurts, aid us in life transitions, or celebrate ourselves. How can ritual be used in a therapeutic setting by those in the sex therapy and sex education fields? This workshop will explore various types of therapeutic rituals that can be used as interventions when people are stuck or wish to make a change in their perspectives or their lives. Participants will create sample rituals in class as examples.
Learning Objectives:
List at least 4 common purposes of and occasions for ritual;
Describe at least 5 common elements of ritual;
Identify at least 2 ways ritual can be incorporated into sex therapy, counseling, or sexuality education;
Demonstrate understanding of how to create and implement a ritual related to an aspect of sexuality.
