Sex Work Unveiled: Exploring the Lives and Laws of Sex Work From Past to Present

Title of Event: Sex Work Unveiled: Exploring the Lives and Laws of Sex Work From Past to Present

Description of Event:
Explore the history of sex work, legal frameworks, and the impact of FOSTA-SESTA in this 90-minute course. Learn about the Nordic model, decriminalization, and the pivotal role of sex workers as advocates for their rights and marginalized communities.

Sex Work Unveiled takes an intersectional approach, recognizing that sex work is shaped by race, gender, disability, immigration status, and class. The training examines how colonialism and white supremacy have influenced sex work laws, disproportionately impacting BIPOC, trans, and disabled workers. It explores cultural stigma, economic disparities, and legal frameworks like the Nordic Model and FOSTA-SESTA, highlighting their real-world consequences. Centering the voices of sex workers, the course underscores their role in advocacy movements and provides harm reduction strategies tailored to diverse communities. Through historical context, legal analysis, and lived experiences, this training offers a nuanced, culturally informed perspective on sex work.
