From Rage to Sage: Demystifying Hormones At Every Stage
Title of Event: From Rage to Sage: Demystifying Hormones At Every Stage
Description of Event:
Whether it’s a Premenstrual Disorder, perimenopause, postpartum changes, Gender Affirming Hormone Therapy or simply the emotional and cultural reality of living in a body that bleeds, the mental health impact of hormonal shifts is profound. Hormone receptors exist throughout the body, meaning the hormonal cycle can influence a wide range of physical and emotional experiences that extend far beyond the limited, fertility-focused narratives found in mainstream sex education. As clinicians, educators, and advocates, we encounter people every day who are navigating complex hormonal experiences, but we may not feel informed or equipped enough to fully address them.
This 2 session, 3-hour webinar taught by the authors of The Cycle Book will take us through a learning journey addressing
1) hormone cycles as a key factor in relational, sexual and mental health,
2) the impact of hormone factors on therapy,
3) supporting clients through major hormonal transitions,
4) cycle tracking, and
5) trauma-informed approaches to body literacy.
Principles of Reproductive Justice, Liberatory Harm Reduction, and Client-Centered Care are cited throughout and form a core part of the training’s foundation.
