Practical Polyamory #9: Navigating Your Polyamorous Dating Life
Title of Event: Practical Polyamory #9: Navigating Your Polyamorous Dating Life
Description of Event:
Miscommunications, double-booked dates, and mixed-up birthdays might be hilarious in a sex farce, but that kind of mismanagement could spell doom for your polyamorous/nonmonogamous love life! Learning to navigate the joys and struggles of dating multiple partners can feel overwhelming, but the effort is absolutely rewarding.
Join polyamory educator and coach Rebecca Rose Vassy for a workshop that gives you the tools to succeed in your NM dating life. We’ll talk about some of the most common challenges and pitfalls as well as some of the unique pleasures of consensually dating multiple people. We’ll explore:
-How to find your right levels of disclosure, and the difference between privacy and hiding things
-Creating your STI protocols and having those conversations
-Balancing ORE (old-relationship energy) and NRE (new-relationship energy)
-If, when, and how to introduce your partners to one another
-Vetting potential partners for compatibility, and managing relationship expectations
-Special-occasion dilemmas: Handling holidays, weddings, and vacations
-The weird paradox of being deeply in love and deeply heartbroken at the same time
By the end of the session, you’ll walk away feeling more confident that you can handle nonmonogamous dating responsibly, ethically, and joyfully.
There will be a Q&A discussion period with a method for submitting questions or experiences anonymously. This class is inclusive of all genders, orientations, neurotypes, and levels of experience.
