Practical Polyamory #8: Jealousy as an Ally

Title of Event: Practical Polyamory #8: Jealousy as an Ally

Description of Event:
Jealousy: Start a discussion about polyamory, and you can set your watch by the 30 seconds it’ll take for someone to ask how you get over jealousy.

Here’s the secret: You don’t.

However, jealousy is also not the terrible green-eyed monster it’s made out to be. It’s more like a gargoyle– fearsome to look at, highly misunderstood, but serving an important purpose. In this workshop with polyamory educator and coach Rebecca Rose Vassy, explore the realities of jealousy in polyamory, how to manage it in a mature and productive way, and how to even turn it into a valuable ally.

You’ll learn:

-What jealousy is, how it differs from envy, and where it comes from
-Why jealousy seems like it’s a bigger deal in nonmonogamy than in monogamy
-How to spot it, unpack it, and dig into it when it happens so that you can hear the message it’s sending you
-The difference between the feeling of jealousy and the behavior that results from it
-How to manage jealousy in yourself and/or your partners with compassion, constructive communication, love, and authenticity

Don’t fear jealousy– befriend it, and watch your polyamorous relationships transform and bloom when you do.

There will be a Q&A discussion period with a method for submitting questions or experiences anonymously. This class is inclusive of and welcomes people of all genders, orientations, neurotypes, and levels of experience.
