Attachment-Based Clinical Supervisor Training

Title of Event: Attachment-Based Clinical Supervisor Training

Description of Event:

THGI Clinical Supervisor Training Program: Through an Attachment Lens is an 8-hour, Utah R156-60e-306.2-compliant synchronous training delivered across two half-day sessions (Day 1 and Day 2). Rather than treating clinical supervision as a checklist of regulatory tasks, this course grounds every required competency, supervision models, feedback, ethics, documentation, in the attachment foundation that determines whether supervision actually works: a secure supervisory relationship.
Across the two days, participants move from theory to practice.

Day 1 builds the relational core of supervision, using attachment theory and Erikson's psychosocial stages to explore what supervisees bring into the relationship and what supervisors must provide to create a secure base for risk-taking, feedback, and growth.

Day 2 extends that relational foundation outward into the structures that hold it, group and multicultural supervision, ethics and legal standards, and the contracts and documentation required by DOPL. Throughout, participants practice reading the supervisory relationship itself as clinical data: identifying ruptures, repairing them, and using the relationship as the primary tool of supervision rather than an afterthought to content delivery.

Graduates leave with a personal supervision philosophy, a working knowledge of attachment-informed supervisory practice, and a DOPL-compliant supervision contract ready to implement.
