This asynchronous course provides sex therapists and allied clinicians with a working knowledge of common sexually transmitted infections (STIs), their transmission, symptoms, and treatment, alongside practical guidance on safer sex practices clients can use to reduce risk. Content covers bacterial, viral, and parasitic STIs — including chlamydia, gonorrhea, HPV, herpes, syphilis, hepatitis B, trichomoniasis, and HIV/AIDS — along with associated clinical concerns such as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. The course closes with a dedicated ethics component examining a clinician's duty to warn and protect in the context of HIV/AIDS disclosure, contrasting the Tarasoff standard with Texas's Thapar v. Zezulka ruling and applicable state confidentiality statutes.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion, participants will be able to:

• List and describe major sexually transmitted infections and their clinical presentations.
• Identify safer sex practices and barrier methods that reduce STI transmission risk.
• Apply relevant confidentiality and duty-to-warn standards when addressing a client's STI/HIV status in clinical practice.
