Title of Event: Foundations of Sex Positive Therapy

Description of Event:

This course will focus on clinical foundations of sex therapy with an emphasis on the six principles of sexual health, the medical origins of sex therapy, and basic sex therapy interventions for sexual empowerment in kink, poly, and LGBT communities. The course will also focus on self-evaluation of clinician comfort and willingness to engage in sexual health conversations, and how we as sex therapists can effectively engage with our own biases in order to reduce their impact on clinical interventions.

Sex Therapy (ST) Training:

ST1. Theory and methods of sex-related psychotherapy, including several different models.
ST2. Techniques of sex-related assessment and diagnosis of the Psychosexual Disorders described in the current edition of the DSM.
ST6. Ethical decision-making and best practice.
