Artificial Intimacy: Sex & Relationships in the Age of AI
Title of Event: Artificial Intimacy: Sex & Relationships in the Age of AI
Description of Event:
With the tremendous rise in the use of AI chatbots, there has also been a spike in AI companion apps. One study shows that even when people don’t describe their primary reason for chatbot use as companionship, up to half of users describe their chatbot as “friend”, “companion”, or “romantic partner”. In this webinar, taught by an expert in digital relationships, you will learn how people are using AI chatbots for sex and romance, how AI apps can reinforce harmful biases, and how AI companions are being integrated into relationships as a type of consensual non-monogamy. We will also delve into trends in AI companionship app use, discussions of platforms, demographics of users, gender concerns, privacy issues, and more.
Learning Objectives: You will be able to
~Name at least one AI companion app
~Identify ways that AI can influence users in their real life relationships
~Recognize aspects of AI platform bias as it relates to gender, orientation, age and race
~Discuss ways to address the needs of real life balance for users of AI
