Title of Event: Sexual Recovery & Self-Leadership
Description of Event: Sexual recovery refers to the process by which an individual regains a balanced and healthy relationship with their sexual self, particularly after experiencing patterns of out-of-control sexual behavior. Sexual recovery goes beyond abstinence from sexual behaviours deemed "problematic"; we conceptualise it as bringing an individual into alignment with their personal principles of sexual health. This alignment allows for an embodied sense of congruence with their sexual self unimpeded by shame, rejection, dissociation and a tendency to hide parts of the self from the Self. To this end, we take a coaching approach that centers the multiplicity of the self, i.e. an Internal Family Systems model wherein problematic or out of control behaviours are seen as parts which are insufficiently integrated with the conscious Self, or whose actions have been insufficiently investigated or understood. The culmination of this integrative process, in the absence of a necessary mental health diagnosis, is an over-viewing awareness whose self-reflectivity naturally comes from a consciousness of compassion towards oneself and those affected by oneself. The main topics we will cover are out-of-control porn use, solo sex and sex with others.
