Description of Event:
When sexual difficulties in adulthood are associated with past childhood sexual trauma shame often accompanies such intimate trauma. This workshop will provide a theoretical  understanding as well as clinical techniques in working with sexuality concerns of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Case material will be discussed.
 
In this four-part series, participants will:
  • Discuss how to create a safe therapeutic environment for survivors
  • Identify important aspects of assessment of childhood sexual abuse
  • Describe the central role of shame for survivors
  • Describe the use of a culturally sensitive relational sexual history to support sexual healing
  • List clinical techniques that help survivors safely become more sexual
