Description of Event:

This training offers therapists a foundational and clinically grounded overview of Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM), with a particular focus on common polyamory pitfalls that emerge in therapeutic work. Participants will explore the range of relationship structures that fall under the ENM umbrella and examine recurring challenges such as communication breakdowns, boundary negotiation, jealousy, power dynamics, and stigma-related stress. Emphasizing affirming, non-pathologizing approaches, the course equips clinicians with practical frameworks and intervention strategies to support clients in developing the skills needed to navigate ENM relationships ethically, consensually, and sustainably.

Course Objectives:

Support clients to develop the skills to navigate ENM relationships
Explain the various relationship structures that fall under the ENM umbrella
Identify and articulate the common challenges that ENM individuals face

SC1. Theory and methods of personal/individual counseling.
SC2. Theory and methods of sexuality counseling approaches to specific populations (e.g., youth, older adult, couples, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations).
SC3. Theory and methods of different approaches to intervention in relationship systems.
