Intersectionality in Practice with Bianca I. Laureano, PhD, CSES, MA (Dr. / she / ella)
Intersectionality is a Black feminist gift that has been misappropriated and often used incorrectly, especially among sex professionals who have never engaged with Black Feminist Thought. Join us for a quick overview of correcting common errors when attempting to engage with an intersectional analysis, framework, and practice!
Learning Objective:
By the end of this session participants will be able to identify 3 common errors when applying an intersectional framework and their corrections.
About Bianca
Bianca I Laureano is an award-winning educator, curriculum writer, and LatiNegra sexologist. She is a co-foundress of the Women of Color Sexual Health Network, the Disability Power Bloc a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fiscal sponsor for disability justice initiatives led by disabled people of the global majority, and 2017 founded ANTE UP! a virtual freedom school. She has written several curricula and led the curriculum development for the award-winning Netflix film Crip Camp and PBS documentary I Didn’t See You There, both guided by Disability Justice principles. She is an AASECT certified sexuality educator and supervisor, and was part of the Black Mamas Matter Alliance inaugural Black Maternal Health Incubator Hub pilot program offering a 5 part series on Disability Justice for birth workers. SE1. Sexuality education training will include, but is not limited to: theory and methods of general education (including curriculum development, delivery and evaluation).
SE3. Ethical issues in sexuality education.
Sex Therapy (ST) Training:
ST1. Theory and methods of sex-related psychotherapy, including several different models.
ST5. Principles of consultation, collaboration and referral.
ST6. Ethical decision-making and best practice.
