The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently released a report showing that instances of STDs are on the rise in the United States. In particular, reported cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis have increased for the first time since 2006. "America’s worsening STD epidemic is a clear call for better diagnosis, treatment, and prevention," said Jonathan Mermin, M.D., director of the CDC's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and Tuberculosis Prevention.
