According to a new study published in Sexual Medicine, many veterans returning from service in Iraq and Afghanistan encounter sexual health problems. Researchers found that almost 18 percent of veterans screened positive for sexual dysfunction during their initial visit to a post-deployment clinic at a veterans affairs medical center in Houston. Authors of the study believe this number may actually be low, as not all veterans may feel comfortable disclosing difficulties with sexuality. This particular number comes from responses to a five-item questionnaire veterans filled out in order to rate their level of functioning or impairment in areas such as libido and arousal, orgasms and satisfaction, and erections or vaginal lubrication.
