Description of Event:
This training explores how disability can shape sexual experiences and how clinicians can provide affirming, practical, and pleasure-centered support. Participants will examine how physical, sensory, and neurological disabilities may impact sexual activity, desire, and access to intimacy. The session will introduce a range of adaptive tools and equipment that can support comfort, communication, and sexual expression, while also building skills to collaboratively problem-solve sexual limitations with clients. Emphasis is placed on reducing stigma, honoring client autonomy, and expanding possibilities for sexual satisfaction and connection.
Course Objectives:
Identify the various physical, sensory, and neurological disorders that can
interfere with sexual activity
Locate and describe various adaptive equipment that can be utilized to support
clients
Discuss and problem solve sexual limitations to improve client satisfaction with
sex life

Sexuality Education (SE) Training:
SE4. Theory and methods of approaches to sexuality education with specific populations (e.g., youth, older adults, couples, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities).
Sexuality Counseling (SC) Training:
SC2. Theory and methods of sexuality counseling approaches to specific populations (e.g., youth, older adult, couples, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, ethnic/ cultural/ faith-based populations).
Sex Therapy (ST) Training:
ST1. Theory and methods of sex-related psychotherapy, including several different models.
ST3. Theory and methods of approach to intervention in relationship systems experiencing sex and intimacy problems.
ST6. Ethical decision-making and best practice.
