Sexuality Counselor Certification Committee
Chair: Lori Davis DNP, CSC-SIT, MSCP, IF
Description: The Sexuality Counselor Certification Committee reviews and evaluates certification applications for sexuality counselors. The committee aspires to foster evidence-informed standards for counseling and provides an equitable and fair process for the certification of sexuality counselors.
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per month
Helpful Skills: Knowledgable about AASECT certification requirements and close attention to detail
Certification Required: Yes - CSC for at least 2 years
Sex Therapist Certification Committee
Chair: Fiona O'Farrell, Phd, LMFT, CST, CSE, CST-S
Description: The Sex Therapist Certification Committee reviews and evaluates certification applications for sex therapists. The committee aspires to foster evidence-informed standards for clinical practice and provides an equitable and fair process for the certification of sex therapists.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week
Helpful Skills: Knowledgable about AASECT certification requirements and close attention to detail
Certification Required: Yes - CST for at least 2 years
Supervisor Certification Committee
Chair(s): Alicia Haines-Ricketts and Joleen Nevers
Description: The Supervisor Certification Committee reviews and evaluates certification applications for sexuality educator, counselor, and therapist supervisors. The committee aspires to foster evidence-informed standards of supervision and provides an equitable and fair process for the certification of sexuality supervisors.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week

Certification Required: Yes - Supervisor for at least 2 years
Awards Committee
Chair(s): Claudia Johnson and Xuan Ho
Description: The Awards Committee works to recognize individuals who have made substantial contributions to the field through the review of nominations for the AASECT Annual Awards.
Time Commitment: 2.5 hours per month from October- May
*First Meeting on October 10th, 2025! (10am PT/1pm ET)

Conference Planning Committee
Chair(s): Neil Sampson and Jacqueline Mendez
Description: The 2026 Conference Planning Committee is responsible for shaping the AASECT Annual Conference, our largest yearly event, focused on education and collaboration. This committee features unique opportunities for members to specialize in the development of the conference’s educational programs, social events, local guides, social media presence, and more.
Time Commitment: Varies, 2-4 hours per week at most
Helpful Skills: Event planning, organization, communication
Certification Required: For specific committee roles only
Ethics Committee
Chair: Nick Marzo
Description: The role of the EAC is to promote high standards of ethical conduct, provide education to Members and the public, respond to inquiries about general ethical principles and practices, provide consultation to, and advise Members on more specific ethical issues when so requested by the Board of Directors; and report, through the Board of Directors, on the types of inquiries and issues that are extant, and take such actions as are consistent with these Bylaws, with the AASECT Code of Conduct, and with the Ethics Advisory Committee’s own rules and procedures as are necessary and appropriate to achieve the objectives of the Committee. The Ethics Advisory Committee does not serve as an adjudicative or disciplinary body, those functions being reserved for the Board of Directors.
Time Commitment: One 2-hour meeting per month and an additional 3-5 hours per month depending on committee role.
Helpful Skills: Have an understanding of the AASECT Code of Conduct and the roles of certified and non-certified members, experience with ethical assessments and decision making, the ability to listen and think critically using a JEDI framework, patience, and intermediate comfort working in Google Workspace.
Certification Required: Certified member of AASECT for a period of no less than three years; exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Committee Chair and President to support historically underrepresented groups be reflected on the committee
Communications Moderation Committee
Chair: Stefanie Goerlich
Description: The Moderation Committee monitors members’ postings to the main AASECT listserv to ensure adherence to guidelines to maintain respect and professionalism.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week
Helpful Skills: Knowledgeable about the Internet and professional communication.
