Philosophy:
I am committed to providing high quality, empathic, non-judgemental sexuality healthcare. The definition of libido is life energy. People struggling with sexual issues are really struggling with life issues. A person's approach to sexuality is highly reflective of how s/he approaches his/her life in general. Sexual dysfunctions are symptomatic of lives that are out of balance. A well-balanced life includes vibrant sexuality. Often the work I find myself doing with people that have sexual issues, is that of helping them reconnect with their ability to feel joy. For instance, in working with people presenting with low sexual desire (that is not totally rooted in biological causes), I am finding the interesting phenomena that they are often literally turned off sexually, and are also shut down in other areas of their experiencing. My desire is to give patients insights, true principles, and tools that they can use to experience a fullness of their authentic joy. In treating sexuality concerns, I take a comprehensive approach, assessing and addressing biological, psychological, social, and developmental factors. I provide treatment for the psychological, relationship, and devlopemental factors. For biological factors I refer to a team of doctors, pharmacists and physical therapists. I see myself and my patient/s as a team, with both of our roles essential. I respect the patient as the expert on his/her feelings, and I listen seriously to concerns. I expect patients to invest their time, energy, and openheartedness to their goals. I want their experience with me to be warm, comforting, and safe so that they can benefit the most from therapy.
