The FCC issues regulations that broadcasting must be suitable for children except between midnight and 6:00 a.m. It ignores federal court judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s criticism that it was acting needlessly as a “superparent” without any “expertise in child development." Senator Jesse Helms wants the FCC to be more strict. He gets Congress to extend the ban to 24 hours. Helms also amended the CDC’s guidelines for AIDS information. Information paid for with tax money could not promote homosexual activities.
