Bruce Rind and Philip Tromovitch

Bruce Rind and Philip Tromovitch publish “A Meta-Analytic Review of Findings from National Samples on Psychological Correlates of Child Sexual Abuse” in the Journal of Sex Research. Their review of the literature on child sex abuse finds that it is not associated with pervasive harm, and when harm occurs, it is not particularly intense.They also found that the studies do not show that later psychological adjustment fails to occur. But when child sexual abuse is accompanied by force or close family ties, it may produce significant harm.
