The American Psychiatric Association’s DSM III-R

The American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders III-R drops the terms nymphomania and Don Juanism and introduces the concept of “sexual addiction…distress about a pattern of repeated sexual conquests or other forms of nonparaphilic sexual addiction, involving a succession of people who exist only as things to be used.”
