Wendy Maltz, LCSW, DST, received the prestigious Carnes Award from the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health for "her outstanding work in the field of sexual addiction." Dr. Patrick Carnes presented the award on October 25, 2014 at the SASH National Conference in Portland, Oregon.
Carnes described Maltz as a pioneer who "was one of the first of all of us to really see the significance of cybersex and its impact on sexual health." He praised her for helping to bridge various sexual health and treatment communities with the sex addict recovery communities, and for her enduring commitment to "making sex not only safe, but fun."
Maltz's career as a sex and relationship therapist spans 40 years. She is an established authority on sexual abuse healing, pornography addiction recovery, women's sexual fantasies, and developing intimacy-based sexuality. Her books include The Sexual Healing Journey (a recovery classic), as well as other groundbreaking works, such as The Porn Trap, Private Thoughts, Passionate Hearts, and Intimate Kisses.
