AASECT Sexuality Educator Consultant Certification for Candidates Applying Under Temporary Grandparent Requirements

Note: The Temporary Grandparenting Period is only open March 1, 2014 through February 28, 2015. Applications with a postmark or email time stamp later than February 28, 2015 will not be accepted for the Grandparenting Period.

A one (1) year period of Temporary Grandparent Requirements has been established, during which time qualified applicants may request Certified Sexuality Educator Consultant status under the requirements which are as follows:

I.  Membership and Certification:

All candidates for Certified Sexuality Educator Consultant must be an AASECT member in good standing. All candidates for Certified Sexuality Educator Consultant must be an AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator for a minimum of three (3) years. Ongoing certification by AASECT as a Certified Sexuality Educator Consultant requires on going certification by AASECT as a Sexuality Educator.

II.   Experience as Sexuality Educator Consultant:

Documentation of holding Approved or Certified Sexuality Educator Consultant status in an allied professional field that has a focus in human sexuality education

OR

Documentation of a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Provider of Sexuality Educator Consultation, attested to by the director or administrator of a professional service institution, an academic institution, or another educator familiar with the applicant’s work as a supervisor/consultant of sexuality education.

III. Summary of Selected Educator Consultant Experience:

 Submission of a summary of a course of individual consultation of sexuality education provided to a sexuality educator in the past, describing in detail the number and nature of the consultation sessions, the learning outcomes, and an evaluation of the educator.

IV. Recommendations:

Provide written recommendations from two (2) professional colleagues other than his/her Supervisor who are able to evaluate the candidate’s fitness for designation as a Certified Sexuality Educator Consultant, general ability to assume the consultant role and responsibilities, and has ethical professional behavior.

V.  Documentation and Fee:

All applications and documentation must be in English. Forward all documentation for the application with the non-refundable processing fee of $300.

VI. The following document must be read and signed in order to become certified as an   AASECT Supervisor: What is Expected of AASECT Certified Sexuality Educator Consultants.   

NOTE: AASECT Supervisor/Educator Consultant status pertains solely to the supervision/educator consultation process of those seeking AASECT Certification status as a Sexuality Educator, Counselor, Therapist or Practitioner Supervisor. AASECT does not condone or encourage anyone to provide supervision/educator consultation that is beyond the scope or jurisdiction of their professional license or credentials. Each person who provides supervision/educator consultation is responsible for knowing the limitations of their license and/or credentials.
