REGISTRATION IS NOW SOLD OUT!

Awareness of your personal feelings, attitudes, values, and beliefs about human sexuality and sexual behavior are essential to providing the highest quality of professional sexuality education, counseling, and therapy. Through somatic-centered-experiential learning, facilitators Serina Payan Hazelwood and Dulce Rodriguez will hold space so you can begin the process of understanding where your heart, mind, and body are related to topics of sex and sexuality. Their intersectional analysis will explore how multiple identities, systems, and power influence pleasure, sexual and relationship diversity, behaviors, and identities.

Presenters

Serina Payan Hazelwood

Serina is a holistic sex educator, experienced-registered yoga teacher (ERYT), and somatic drum circle facilitator. Drawing on her study of religion and spirituality, ancestral trauma and healing, social justice, ecopsychology, and colonization she brings body-centered, holistic approaches to her work. Serina’s liminal identities as a queer Indigenous-Latinx-European descendant make her a natural connector, messenger, and community collaborator.

Serina has over 20 years of experience creating innovative approaches that bring communities together. Her methods are rooted in liberation, framed with social justice, and supported by the pillars of reclamation, ritual, and renewal. Through the whispers of her ancestors, she creates powerful community experiences that identify, critique, and dismantle the systems of white supremacy for the purpose of liberation in body, mind, and spirit.

Dulce Rodriguez

Dulce identifies as a Latina, cisgender woman of color. Born and raised between the US and Mexico, she continues to endure, confront and embrace attitudes, beliefs and feelings about different intersections in sexuality within and around her.

Serving Latinx immigrant families in New Mexico and Mexico, she has been fighting alongside the immigrant empowerment movement. With the purpose to break through the barriers of ignorance, abuse, and oppression, her philosophy of sexuality education is informed by her community’s need and human right to access accurate education about sexuality with a culturally-relevant approach. She firmly believes families in her community are ready to unleash their knowledge and begin overdue conversations related to sexuality.

Dulce is a Clinical Social Worker, sexuality educator, and social entrepreneur. She provides individual and family therapy to survivors of sexual violence, as well as sex education to parents who want to learn how to speak to their children about sexuality. She has also worked with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, as well as people struggling with substances for many years. Dulce has been a speaker at conference advocacy organizations, such as the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, Parents Reaching Out, and Arte Sana. Her topics include clinical and educational sexuality issues related to people of color and immigrant families of different abilities.
