New Survey Shows Teens Having Sex As Early As 14 [1]

A new survey conducted across 20 cities in India, in which roughly 15,000 teens between the ages of 13 and 19 were interviewed, revealed that the average age of first sexual contact for boys is 13.72 years, and the average age for girls is 14.09 years. Those behind the survey feel this may explain the recent increase in STDs among teenagers. At that age, there are no proper resources from which to gain sexuality-related information. In fact, survey results show that around 6.2 percent of adolescents gained information from their teachers, while another six percent gleaned sexuality information from their mothers. But the majority, however (around 57 percent), used media and the Internet as their main source of sexuality-related information.
