AASECT is pleased to announce the introduction of a new Certification, Sexuality Educator Consultant. Since this is a new certification category, for a limited time of one (1) year, qualified AASECT Certified Sexuality Educators, with a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in a supervisory role for educators, will be able to apply for the Sexuality Educator Consultant Certification under Temporary Grand-parenting Requirements. The Grand-parenting requirements state that Certified Sexuality Educators who hold an approved supervisor status in an allied professional field with a focus on human sexuality or who have at least three (3) years of experience as a provider of educator supervision and submit a summary of this supervision, as well as appropriate recommendations, are eligible to apply for Certification as a Sexuality Educator Consultant under the Grand-parenting requirements. The Temporary Grand-parenting phase is slated to begin March 1, 2014 and shall run through February 28, 2015, ending exactly one (1) year after the start date. After the Temporary Grand-parenting phase, and effective as of March 1, 2015, AASECT Certified Sexuality Educators who have been AASECT certified for at least three (3) years, have thirty (30) hours of documented supervision with an AASECT Certified Educator Consultant, professional recommendations, and a written statement of supervision experience will be eligible to apply for certification as a Sexuality Educator Consultant.
