SENIOR DISEASE INTERVENTION TECH

Contra Costa County Health Services Department currently has a temporary opportunity for a dynamic, experienced individual to work in our Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Program. This position is temporary pending the development of a list from which to fill permanent positions.

In this role, you will conduct screening interviews with clients, provide individual and group level education presentations and counseling, answer phone calls from patients and assess needs and arrange for or recommend examination, treatment or immunization, make clinic appointments, staff STD clinics, receive and follow-up on incomplete reports of STDs in Contra Costa and provide HIV antibody test counseling services.

Qualified applicants should have at least 1 year of experience in an STD Program and knowledge of accepted methods of disease investigation/control and methods of transmission, diagnosis, development and treatment of communicable diseases (Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and AIDS). Requires the ability to conduct interviews of a sensitive nature and relate to and deal with diverse clients and communities, as well as knowledge of human sexuality and skills in counseling clients about issues related to sexuality. Must be detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate records.

Assistant Professor in Human Sexuality

Tenure Track Position; Starts August 2011

 

Widener University' Center for Education invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the Graduate Programs in Human Sexuality.

 

Widener University: Located in the greater Philadelphia region, the University is a leading metropolitan institution offering degrees at the associate through doctoral level. The Center for Education is responsible for all professional education programs and is housed within the School of Human Service Professions, which also includes programs in Clinical Psychology, Physical Therapy, and Social Work. The Center includes a growing faculty who teach in 3 undergraduate programs, 21 master' programs, 33 certification programs, and 4 doctoral programs: Human Sexuality, Higher Education, School Administration, and Reading and Language Arts.

 

Graduate Programs in Human Sexuality: Widener Graduate Program in Human Sexuality Education (HSED), offering Masters and Doctoral degrees, is a unique program nationally, providing professional and scholarly education in sexology with concentrations in sexuality education and clinical sexuality (sex therapy). Students in the Doctoral program take additional courses in both basic and Human Sexuality research, and are prepared as scholar and researchers for careers in academia and/or for advanced practice in sexuality education and/or sex therapy. This growing program draws talented students from across the country and internationally. Appointment: Tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 2011, contingent on expected funding available. Salary for 10 month contract $50,000- $56,000 plus benefits.

 

Responsibilities: The qualified candidate will have a 3/3 load, teaching three graduate courses each semester (Fall and Spring). These courses will be in the area of human sexuality and in quantitative research methods. Human Sexuality courses may include, depending on fit: Core Concepts in Human Sexuality, Behavioral Foundations of Human Sexuality, Human Sexuality for Education and Counseling Professional, Cross Cultural Issues in Human Sexuality, History and Ethics of Human Sexuality, Theories of Development and Education in Human Sexuality, Sexual Dysfunctions and their Treatment, and Practicum in Sexuality Education or Clinical Sexology. Research courses may include a Masters level introduction to research methods and doctoral courses that integrate quantitative research design and statistics. Additional faculty duties include student advising, committee assignments, and professional development.


Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a PhD or EdD in human sexuality or related field with research in sexuality, as well as experience teaching sexuality, as well as quantitative research methods at the graduate or undergraduate level. Also preferred is AASECT certification as a sexuality educator, counselor or therapist, as well as experience with technology in support of instruction (including Web-based or hybrid instruction).
